Steel cutting for the first of two liquid pitch tankers being built for Gearbulk took place today at Hyundai Heavy Industries' Mipo Shipyard in Korea.
Delivery of Hull Number 2324 is expected in February 2013, while its sister ship is scheduled for completion in the third quarter 2013.
The two ships will help Gearbulk further develop its growing presence in the high-heat liquid pitch market. Both are already committed to long term charters for shipments between Asia and the Middle East.
With the delivery of the two newbuildings, Gearbulk's liquid pitch fleet will consist of four pure liquid pitch tankers and five combination vessels.
