Gearbulk has taken delivery of the newly built open hatch jib crane vessel Fleximax II, Pelican Arrow at Oshima Shipbuilding Co Ltd in Japan.
Pelican Arrow was named by Gearbulk Holding Limited Chairman Kristian Jebsen. The ship's sponsor was Hitoshi Shinomiya, President of Shinomyia Tanker Co Ltd.
Pelican Arrow is the fourth in a series of eight Fleximax IIs. Like her sister ships, she has a deadweight of 62,900 metric tonnes, is 200 metres long and has eight open hatch holds.
Pelican Arrow is starting its maiden voyage on the British Columbia - Brazil trade.
The fifth and sixth Fleximax II vessels are expected later this year. Delivery of the seventh and eighth in the series is planned for early 2012.
Pelican Arrow was preceded by Fleximax II sister ships Kiwi Arrow and Toki Arrow which arrived in late 2010 and Nandu Arrow delivered in March of this year.
