Gearbulk took delivery today of Eagle Arrow, its sixth Fleximax II open hatch jib crane vessel from Oshima Shipbuilding Co Ltd in Japan.

The 62,900 metric tonnes deadweight, 200 metre long ship with eight box-shaped holds is starting her maiden voyage on the trade between West Coast South America and Asia.

Part of Gearbulk's comprehensive fleet replacement programme, Eagle Arrow is the sixth in a series of eight Fleximax IIs to be built at Oshima. She joins sister ships Kiwi Arrow, Toki Arrow, Nandu Arrow, Pelican Arrow and Puffin Arrow in the fleet.

Delivery of the last two vessels in the Fleximax II series is expected in early 2012.

In late 2012, Gearbulk will take delivery of the first Fleximax III.
