Metal Terminals International, Antwerp
Established in 1991, Metal Terminals International (MTI) is a joint venture between Gearbulk and Euroports, a major terminals and logistics company with operations in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Gearbulk owns 66.7% of MTI, which specialises in non-ferrous metals and forest products.
MTI is one of 115 Port of Antwerp companies with Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification.
Established by the European Union in January 2008, the AEO programme is a trade facilitation measure. To gain AEO certification, operators must meet high standards for financial solvency, administration, record-keeping and security management. Certification is based on extensive audits by member state customs authorities and results in simplified customs procedures.
MTI is also licensed by the London Metal Exchange as part of its global network of storage facilities where approved stock can be held on behalf of warrant holders.
